The South Suburban Junior High School Conference was founded by representatives of five school districts as a boy's basketball and track association in the fall of 1964.
The conference, now in its 61st year, has seen school districts come and go. Only three of the original members remain: Finley of Chicago Ridge, Prairie of Alsip and Independence of Palos Heights. Today, the league boasts ten member school districts.
One of the original founding representatives, the late Jim Willms of Palos Heights, had been designated the Conference Statistician for the first 56 years for most all of the academic/athletic activities that the association sponsors.
The record books for both boy's and girl's basketball on this conference website are a testament to all the many athletes and school teams that have excelled over more than half a century!
